Heir of the Enlightenment and, therefore, of a critical rationality based on subjects capable of thought, language and action, Habermas not only tries to understand the old figures of history who depersonalize the relations between human beings. His effort, beyond the questioning of myth, divinity or fatum, also points to social theories that either minimize the subject, or insert it into systemic frameworks that prevent the liberation of communication, producing serious social pathologies. This paper exposes his criticism, within the context of the conflict between system and world of life, to the political theory of Niklas Luhmann, which, according to Habermas, is nothing but social technology or Sozialtechnologie, thus displacing the communicative centrality of the subject that comprises the world through dialogue and consequent collective action.
