LA DIMENSION TEMPORAL EN LA VIDA MONÁSTICA. UNA APROXIMACIÓN BASADA EN EL CONVENTO DE LA INMACULADA
CONCEPCIÓN DE CARACAS (1690-1790)
Palabras clave:

Time in consecrated lije has cues and meanings different from those of the lay people. Its nature is predominantly circular as opposite to the linear or sequential pattern in secular world. Lije in the cloisters stresses these differences, as soon as the time dimension becomes more an allied than a burden, being in the end a way to sanctijy the daily lije. From the point of view of history, religious time proves to be a valuable key of knowledge in the study of colonial monasteries as human groups that played an outstanding role in their society. Time is thus a way of approaching the lije of Inmaculada Concepción de Caracas convent along the eighteenth century.
