When we briefly characterize the two spheres of social reality, we intend to explore their congenital ambivalence, the structural homology between them and the variuos types of relationships they foster. We turn then to refer to Christianity and we look far what the Christian sources say, both on religion as on politics. The conclusion is that both institutions are ministerial, that is, they do not validate their activities by themselves but by the service they make to peo ple in their respective fields, and therefore they are accountable to them by their performance. Therefore we advocate the desacralization of both and their mutual independence. The difference between the mínimum required by law is established -this belongs to the State- and the highest degree of good life, that the State should promote within the legal framework, where mutual cooperation is possible. We establish that the fundamental problem is the constitution of the Church as God's people and of a State of citizens.
