Dr. Julio César Salas maintains that the religions of primitive peoples, especially of the American indians, and the human language, have the same origin. He aims to demonstrate his thesis searchingfor "religious" rooths in any of the world languages, particular/y of the American indians. However, this association between language and religion does not seem convincing, since Dr. Salas arbitrarily creates word "roots", and alters sorne words in arder to support severa! statements of his. In addition, his only argument to associate words of the most distant languages in time and space is their phonetic similitude. In so doing he arrives at arbitrary and absurd statements. Dr. Salas' thesis is objectedjust on linguistic arguments.
