Resumen

-- The present essay analyzes the master-disciple relationship that transforms the latter's life and it is necessary to set apart from that of the professor's relationship, as excellent as it might be, with the pupil. The paper also refers to sorne praiseworthy examples of this rapport: Socrates or eros' power, discipleship (not imitation) of Jesus of Nazareth, and, in a Venezuelan context, the teaching i,ifluence of Simón Rodríguez over Bolívar and the Latin American mastery of Andrés Bello.
