Resumen

-- The account of the Passion and Death of Jesus is amazingly concurrent in Mark, Matthew, and Luke. Comprising the summary of the Good News, it develops in a short period of time, although it takes upa considerable space in the Synoptics' narrations. The narration makes upa marvelous weave of history and theology. lt does not appear by surprise in the Cospel, but it is prepared since
the beginning. The History narrated is the memory of a true and unique event. The Theology is the believer's reflection on the profound sense of the Passion and the Cross. This Jirst part of our essay shall provide us three views: Gethsemani: deeply moved by his agonizing fate, Jesus addresses his Father with filial trust, while looking after his disciples. The arrest signals the attainment
of their goal by Jesus' enemies, who use violence against him. However, it is accepted by Jesus, to fulfill his Father's will. The Jewish tria! is a decisive step towards Jesus' death. Je sus' self-revelation meets the most intense and official rejection, which signals the apogee of the narration.
