-- When baptizing himself, Jesus assumes as a Jewish believer and poor of Yahweh, the implications of a faithful wait in the sovereign
action of God, as John the Baptist proclaimed it. In the synagogue of Nazaret Jesus reveals publicly his own ministry, recognizing, finally, the failure of John's project. Jesus reads the text of Isaiah (61,1-11) in a context of restoration and messianic expectations. But far Jesus, the restorating action of God was not understood as the exercise of a regal political act that prevailed by means of the defeat and humiliation of the adversary. One did not prevail by the victory, but from the assumption of the poor and despised of the society through merey and compassion, crying out far the peace and wellbeing of ali God's sons (Mt 5,9). Jesus assumed his lije like the last one of the eschatological prophets of Israel, but under the style of an itinerant teacher of restoration, whose Sonship found its unique and authentic rest in God, as a Good and Merciful Father.
