-- In the current essay we will approach the problem of the Historical Jesus, analyzing the different stages and perspectives that
began as a result ofthe so called old quest in the 18th century. This will allow us to evaluate the current state of this research by
rediscovering the historical figure of Jesus as Jew, within his context (social, political and economical conditions) and expectations (in his religion and beliefs), as it is done in recent investigations. We will propase to the reader a partial synthesis of the historical figure of Jesus in which we try to recover sorne relevant aspects ofhis historical practice assumed as an hermeneutic norm for theology anda radical criterion for christian discernment and service, in arder to pursuit an authentic practice of brotherhood that will enable us to express our historical relation with God through mankind.
