Resumen

-- From L. Vallenilla-Lanz's essay entitled Las constituciones de papel y las constituciones orgánicas, we reconstruct two fundamental concepts inside the author's political philosophy, as shown: the written constitution (or paper one) and the organic constitution (or effective one). We intend to show that in the author's opinion, the second conception determines the first one. Both notions are presented as a dichotomy which impact on politics has been weakened by the fact of understanding democracy in
America has led us to. The author's critique is based upon consideration of the appearance of a dogma in the belief that societies are transformed by the solely action of constitutional precepts and institutions created by them without regarding the society's nature and character they pretend to frame.
