Resumen

-- This paper points out how a religion born of an unknown Arab merchant's preaching in the city of Mecca, in VII B.C., and dueto severa! difficulties became a political- military leader. This religion would soon expand after the death of The Prophet; however it would also allow to show sorne dif.ficulties in its own structure. Only but its complex of rules, developed during medinian period, would build up the flourishing community links as well as the relevance of its Sacred Scriptures (The Koran) should guarantee its consolidation as the ultimate universal religion. The paper finishes pointing out the importance of the discipleship tradition that smoothed over the absence of a Church which would guarantee the orthodoxy and would also speak out in the institution of Ulemas or Doctors of Tradition.
