-- Mary is virgin in the integrity and fullness of this notion (referring to both realities, physical and spiritual virginity ). Such notion of virginity finds its meaning and sense on Scripture, such as Saint Agustin sustains. The virginal integrity of Mary, according to Agustín, is a mystery that can only take refuge in the scope of faith, placing the last reason of this notion on the same Christ that chooses a worthy mother, according to his person and mission. On the other hand, the Church, like Mary, is also defined as virgin. Agustín finds its virginity as guardian of the faith in Christ. lt is a virginity understood in both senses: spiritual and doctrinal, and translated into a personal bond between the Church and Christ. This virginity of the Church finds its concrete accomplishment in the virginity of the faithful, which reaches its meaning in each individual Christian, as member of the Church, with an attitude of total adhesion towards God's life in everyday service.
