MARÍA: FIESTAS, IMÁGENES Y REFLEXIÓN TEOLÓGICA

Resumen

-- In arder to validate the relevance of the Virgin Mary in Caracas, I will base this research in four investigations made between the years 1990 and 2002, from which we will analyze different religious celebrations. In this context, a celebration is a form by which society expresses its extraordinary sense of time. We managed to demonstrate, not ónly the complexity of the festive fact, but that the Celebration constitutes one of the main moments that reunites the societal body and puts it into movement. Even a cultural identity will be affected by the number of its religious and social celebrations. From an economic point of view, the festive calendar constitutes one of the main networks to explain the consumption in any society. We will be analyzing various celebrations dedicated to the Holy Mother, as they are practiced in the society of Caracas, Venezuela.
